Job Summary
The Internal Logistics / Material Handling Operator is responsible for managing the flow of materials within Envergia’s recycling facility. This role includes the transportation, storage, and staging of materials used in the production process, ensuring that all materials are handled safely and efficiently to support continuous production. The operator will work closely with the production team to ensure that all necessary materials are available when needed and that the facility’s logistics operations run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Material Handling: Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to transport materials between various stages of the production process.
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of material movement and storage locations, ensuring that inventory levels are monitored and managed effectively.
- Staging Materials: Prepare and stage materials for production, ensuring that the right quantities are available and accessible for the production team.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe operating procedures for material handling equipment.
- Process Coordination: Work closely with production operatives and supervisors to coordinate the delivery and retrieval of materials, minimizing delays and ensuring continuous production.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine checks and maintenance on material handling equipment to ensure it is in good working order.
- Waste Management: Assist in the collection, sorting, and disposal of waste materials generated during the production process, ensuring compliance with environmental standards.
- Reporting: Document material movements, equipment issues, and any incidents related to logistics operations for review by management.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance material flow efficiency and reduce waste within the facility.
Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience in a material handling or logistics role, preferably within a manufacturing or recycling environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating forklifts and other material handling equipment, with the required certifications or willingness to obtain them.
- Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with a focus on accuracy in inventory management and material handling.
- Safety Awareness: Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting and moving heavy materials.
- Communication: Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
